Forte Tax & Law held a seminar in Moscow on the changes in tax legislation in 2019
Forte Tax & Law has hosted the next installment of its seminars on upcoming changes in domestic and international taxation. This time, the event was held on November 21, 2018 in the Embassy of Finland in Moscow and was attended by CFOs, chief accountants and executives from various business fields.
The speakers, Anton Kabakov and Robert Gurdyumov, talked about the changes in tax legislation that will become effective in 2019. They also gave practical recommendations related to these changes. The relevance of topics, as well as the lively and well-structured presentations gave rise to great interest and reactions among the seminar attendees.
The seminar program partially echoed that of the event held in St. Petersburg in September. Robert Gurdyumov, Senior Associate at Forte Tax & Law, spoke about the changes in domestic taxation, in particular, property tax, profit tax and VAT increase from 2019 onwards. Robert broached current issues, including whether or not suppliers will be entitled, following the VAT increase, to change prices in long-term contracts, and what to do if 100% prepayment was received in 2018, but goods or services will be provided in 2019.
Anton Kabakov, Partner at Forte Tax & Law, shed some light on the changes in international taxes: Google tax for B2B and transfer pricing. Anton also spoke about a new trend among tax authorities which used in the past to go mostly after “passive” payments abroad using, in particular, the notion of beneficial owner and are now going after active payments by requalifying them.
