Russia Changes Conscription Age
Dear clients,
We would like to inform you that the draft law increasing fines for employers for failure to perform military registration duties has been adopted in the form that we discussed in our previous alert and will take effect October 1, 2023.
We would also like to give you an update on information about persons who are under the duty to undergo military registration at the military commissariat insofar as it concerns conscripts. As we pointed out earlier, conscripts include men who are 18 to 27 years old. This age will be gradually changed from 21 to 30 years (Draft Federal Law No. 312507-8 On Amendments to the Federal Law On Military Duty and Military Service and Article 3 of the Federal Law On Alternative Civil Service). However, there have been some last-minute changes made to Draft Federal Law No. 312507-8 On Amendments to the Federal Law On Military Duty and Military Service and Article 3 of the Federal Law On Alternative Civil Service, according to which men who are 18 to 30 years old will be called up for military service as conscripts, starting from 2024. This version of the law has been signed by the Russian President and will take effect January 1, 2024.
Accordingly, in September, the age of conscripts will be from 18 to 27 years, and starting from 2024, it will be from 18 to 30 years.
