Duration of foreigners’ stay extended again from June 16, 2021
Presidential Decree No. 364 dated June 15, 2021 has extended again the duration of temporary stay in Russia for foreign nationals.
A previous decree from the President of the Russian Federation had extended the periods of temporary stay until June 15, 2021. The new Presidential Decree sets out:
- From June 16, 2021 and for 90 days from the date of resumption of transport connections with the relevant country:
- Suspension of the duration of foreigners’ temporary stay in the Russian Federation as well as the validity of visas and migration cards;
- Suspension of the validity of temporary residence permits and residence permits valid as of March 15, 2020 held by foreign nationals staying outside Russia.
- From June 16 to September 30, 2021:
- No decisions for deportation, reduction in the duration of temporary stay in the Russian Federation will be issued to foreign nationals residing in the Russian Federation;
- Foreign nationals residing in the Russian Federation with expired visas may apply to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for settlement of their legal status in the Russian Federation or to leave the Russian Federation.
- Employers will be able until December 31, 2021 to conclude employment or civil law contracts with Eurasian Economic Union nationals regardless of their declared purpose of entry to the Russian Federation.
- Employers with valid permits to hire foreign nationals will be able to hire foreigners regardless of their declared purpose of entry to the Russian Federation.
