Julia Talagaeva discussed with SPIBA members the difficulties in lining up customs value and transfer prices for imported goods

A business meeting was held on October 26 to discuss customs regulation at St. Petersburg International Business Association (SPIBA). Julia Talagaeva, Senior Associate at Forte Tax & Law, spoke at this meeting on a topic overlapping customs law and transfer pricing: The Difficulties in Lining up Customs Value and Transfer Prices for Imported Goods.

Julia, among other things, spoke about the difference between transfer pricing concepts and customs value, how adjustments based on the determination of transfer prices affect customs value, and how transfer pricing documentation can be used when confirming customs value. Julia also shared current case law on this topic and gave detailed recommendations.
