Delovoy Petersburg Lawyers Rating – Forte Tax & Law ranks first in Customs Law category

Delovoy Petersburg published its annual Lawyers Rating on November 17. What makes this rating special is that lawyers themselves assess the achievements of their colleagues by anonymous poll. Delovoy rating does not only rank lawyers but also reviews projects in eight branches of law.

The Forte Tax & Law team was awarded the first place in Customs Law category for its win at the Russian Supreme Court. Our lawyers won a dispute between a large American manufacturer of self-propelled vehicles and customs authorities on the issue of recycling charge collection based solely on TN VED commodity customs codes. We managed to prove that TN VED codes cannot be the sole criteria for determining whether self-propelled vehicles are subject to recycling charge and that it is necessary in such case to consider the category and type of vehicle as well.
