Together with our partner Alder&Sound we hosted a seminar on the latest issues of international taxation of transactions with intellectual property (IP). This seminar was held on October 11, 2017 in Helsinki.
Our partner, Anton Kabakov, spoke about the inclusion of license payments in the customs value of goods imported into Russia. Intragroup transactions with intellectual property and transfer pricing were also other topics broached at this seminar.
The comparison made between the European and Russian approaches to this matter was particularly interesting. There is no clear-cut practice of international taxation of IP so this topic is always relevant.
What do you think? For example, should royalties paid to head offices be included in the value of goods purchased from independent suppliers based, for instance, in Asia?
